As the world economies go into recession the world market for pc’s is expected to slow but Africa is one of the few places said to grow.
Markets like Latin America, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa have been among the fastest growing markets over the past couple of years as declining prices have helped them acquire systems. These markets are said to continue to expand but at a slower rate. This is great news for Africa’s (especially South Africa) pc market given the uncertainty of the economy. This means that even though the credit crunch will have quite an impact on all spending, the market should be able to overcome it.
This all comes at a great time as Internet usage in South Africa has been growing steadily and is set to boom. This means we could see South Africa move from a few major service providers to more than 100 in a short amount of time. This unfortunately is not so good for dial-up providers who are more expensive and not convenient hence the increase in 3G and ADSL usage. More and more South Africans are growing accustomed to Internet usage as more systems are becoming Internet based. This is ideal because we should be seeing a lot of small businesses growing and a lot of new ones being started, all trying to take advantage of the growing market.
Westech will sure take advantage of this by maintaining our competitive prices and providing efficient services, with regard to networking and technical support and keeping up with the latest technology.
