Possibilities with Blackberry

Blackberry seems to have taken the business world by storm. However it is not only businessmen and women who are using this handy mobile device. Blackberry has become the popular answer to those who wish to keep in touch at all times with their social online world.

The Blackberry is commonly known for sending and receiving Internet email from wherever it can receive a mobile network. Blackberry offers different packages for connectivity purposes.

BES
Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) is software that acts as a central link between a wireless device or wireless network and a Blackberry. In order for the user to be able to connect to email, instant messaging and personal information management tools, the server integrates with messaging and collaboration systems. All information is transferred between the server and the Blackberry. BES allows those with authority over the mobile device to have control over devices. If a Blackberry is stolen or lost, they will be able to deactivate the phone themselves.

A company is able to manage their group of Blackberrys and customise the user experience. This is done through a number of settings and policies. If this is done properly, a Blackberry that is connected to a BES, is in sync with the internal mail server. This means that all read, unread, deleted and filed components are in sync.

BIS
Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) allows Blackberry users to integrate their device with up to 10 supported businesses. They can also keep in touch with personal email accounts, instant messaging and web browsing. BIS allows a Blackberry user to configure their device through a Web interface. This service also allows the user to open attachments whilst on the go. Users can also create a Blackberry email address, read and send emails directly from the device. Desktop accounts are updated so that when users return to their computer, the email is marked as “read”.

This service has been created for small businesses that do not have a mailer server. It allows Blackberry users to access mail when they are at home or on the go. BIS wirelessly pushes a copy of the message to the device and then deletes it off the POP server if the user has not downloaded it from their desktop yet.

PIM
Personal Information Management (PIM) is made up of an address book, calendar, memo pad and task list. The service allows a Blackberry to be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook, Lotus, Notes, Novell or GroupWise.

Blackberry Support
Westech not only offers the services of specialists in information technology but now provide Blackberry users with Blackberry Enterprise Server Support. This server consists of features that allow a Blackberry user to connect to email, calendar as well as applications found on the Blackberry device.
