Networking is literally the backbone of any company. Without a network, either wireless or the more traditional wired network, a company is quite simply unable to efficiently function in today’s fast paced and profit centered market place.
Network assessment
The first step in installing a network is to ensure that the proposed network will meet with the initial demand and then that the anticipated future growth of the company can be matched with the chosen network without further significant investments in new network switches and other networking infrastructure.
As part of the network assessment and subsequent upgrade / optimisation; Westech’s technicians will trace and test all of the points in the existing network and label them according to where they link to and also if they are active or dead points in the existing setup. The cables will all be neatened up and the overall solution mapped out for easy future reference.
Equipment specifications
Westech’s networking specialists will then prepare a full list of exactly which networking equipment is needed for your company to run smoothly with the minimum of delays for maintenance and, when the need arises, expansion.
It is the client’s prerogative to specify which brand they would feel the most comfortable in using either based on previous experience with that brand or based on budget.
Network sizes
Westech’s in-house cabling and networking division is professionally trained and experienced in the setting up, maintenance, upgrading and the moving of networks of all sizes and configurations. From small networks running in a 3-man office using a small LAN (Local Access Network), right through to the large top end of the scale where there are multiple network sites across a multitude of locations each with their own levels of security and administrator levels. (Such as large WAN’s – Wide Access Networks and GAN’s – Global Access Networks).
Additional networks
A company’s network does not have to be solely confined to their computers, servers and multifunction devices. Additional equipment can also be networked so that the company can make the most out of all of their infrastructure.
For instance a company can have computer monitors around their building which can all be networked together so that a user (or group of users) can predefine a playlist of visual elements through a server which can be motivational or informative in nature. This is an excellent marketing tool as clients and employees can benefit from these networked devices. These elements are then controlled through one control panel and displayed across all the screens.
A company’s PABX also runs on a network, although it is not what many feel is a traditional network solution., but the principle is the same and Westech’s technicians are proficient in the setup and maintenance of various PABX systems.
