With our planet calling out for help, interest rate mountains clouding our thoughts and electricity provision a stressful uncertainty, our country’s people and businesses are in need of mid year upliftment and no one words it better than Cell C’s Turn that Frown Upside Down Campaign, capturing a country’s emotions so accurately. At Westech we decided to uplift things a little by becoming part of something bigger: we’re going green! Dear Reader, let it not be said that the computer services industry is ignorant and indifferent to our environment.
At Westech we’ve put preliminary measures in place to improve on, limiting our portion of environmental harm internally and like Cell C reminds us, inspire a network around us to make great things happen! Externally we decided to reach out to Johannesburg City Parks and their Kids With Disability Garden initiative, donating plants to arouse the senses and stimulate imagination.
For our clients we’ve extended our Enviro centered services, minimising both electricity usage and paper copies in a cost effective manner. Electronic archiving and virtualization are some of the methods to consider. In short, virtualization allows for virtual drives to form part of your hardware needs, capturing all drives to a central computer and hence reduces the need the physical. Something else to consider and easy to implement, is simply reviewing current printers used. According to research, laser printers cause more harm compared to older line and matrix printers. Westech has also launched a PC recycling service assisting you to reduce your e-wastage of old PCs, printers, CDs, screens and other related items. Please contact our company to find out more about these services and how we can assist your business to leave a greener footprint.
The state of our environment has surpassed reasoning by voluntary participation. Our company made the choice and is taking an indispensable step forward, hoping to inspire those around us to think and implement green in everyday work life.
